She has taken both ANCC and AACN certification tests and is a trained item writer and content expert. She has served as co-faculty in the ACNP program at Case Western Reserve University, has served as a clinical preceptor for University of Florida, Case Western Reserve University, and Ohio State University students and has academic appointment as an Assistant Professor of Neurology in the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine. She has published over 30 peer reviewed articles, authored multiple chapters in nurse practitioner board review books and textbooks and has 3 quick reference books in the “Fast Facts” series, including about neurocritical care, stroke, and cardiac surgery nursing. Dr. McLaughlin enjoys making sarcastic comments at a moment's notice, nerd culture and the vocal stylings of Van Morrison. Dr. McLaughlin is active in national organizations and has served on many committees for Society of Critical Care Medicine and Neurocritical Care Society. She is currently co-chair for the 2027 SCCM Congress and serves on ACCM Awards Committee, Strategic Planning, and is a podcast host for SCCM Podcast. She is also active in NCS and is a Social Media Ambassador for the journal. She is well known for her proficiency and advocacy in point-of-care ultrasound and has been faculty for SCCM, NCS, and AACN. She is a fellow for SCCM and NCS. Hailing from Richmond, Virginia, Dr. Tobias Keene brings a bit of unabashed Southern hospitality to all his patients. He moved to Washington, D.C. over thirty years ago as a freshman at Ivy College. Right after graduation, he attended World University’s School of Dentistry. Before opening Keene Dental in 1994, he worked for free clinics and some of the finest practices in the District. He is part of the 123 Dental Association and stays up-to-date on the latest dental discoveries.
